Our Favorite Holiday Tradition Lives On
Over the past six years, we’ve grown something really special at Let There Be Light. Every season we reach out to our community asking them to nominate a family that could use a little extra Christmas cheer. Maybe it has been a hard year or maybe life has thrown challenges their way. What matters is that we want to help brighten the end of their year with extra holiday cheer!
After reading every nomination, we choose a few families and light up their homes for free and gift them a full Thanksgiving dinner that feeds 8-10 people, enough for the whole family! This has become The Share The Light Project and is one of the things we look forward to most each season. It’s not just about Christmas lights; it’s about giving families a moment of Christmas magic and a reminder that they are cared for by their community. There is nothing like seeing the look on their faces when the lights turn on and the whole house glows, there truly is magic in Christmas lights.
We have been blessed to partner with Smoky Tony’s BBQ on this every year. Together, we make sure each family receives a full Thanksgiving meal. It is prepared fresh, packed hot, and picked up on Thanksgiving Day so they can gather around the table without worrying about a thing. That combination of a warm meal and a beautifully lit home makes the season feel a little brighter.
The Share The Light Project has become a tradition that grounds us in the middle of the busiest time of year. Our workdays in the season are filled with installs, scheduling, and long hours. Our Share The Light Project reminds us why we started and that lights are more than decoration: they are joy, they are comfort, they are happiness.
