Over the past couple of years, something really special has grown here at Let There Be Light. Every season we put out a post asking our community to nominate a family that could use a little extra Christmas cheer. Maybe it has been a hard year. Maybe life has thrown challenges their way. What matters is that someone thought of them, and we want to help brighten the end of their year.
From those nominations, we choose a couple of families and light up their homes for free. We started calling this tradition The Share The Light Project, and it has quickly become one of the things we look forward to most each season. For us, it’s not just about Christmas lights. It is about giving families a moment of Christmas magic, a reason to smile, and a reminder that they are cared for. There is nothing like seeing the look on their faces when the lights click on and the whole house glows. That moment stays with us all season.
And it goes beyond the lights. We have been blessed to partner with Smokey Tony’s BBQ on this each year. Together, we make sure each family also receives a full Thanksgiving meal. It is prepared, packed, and delivered so they can gather around the table without worrying about a thing. That combination of a warm meal and a beautifully lit home makes the season feel a little brighter.
The Share The Light Project has become a tradition that grounds us in the middle of the busiest time of year. Our workdays in the season are filled with installs, scheduling, and long hours, but this slows us down in the best way. It reminds us why we started. It reminds us that lights are more than decoration. They are joy. They are comfort. They are happiness. They are memories being made. And they remind us of the magic of Christmas.
